Leh, June 12: Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, visited the 5th Battalion, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Leh, and interacted with officers and jawans as part of her ongoing visit to Ladakh under the Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme (VVVP). State Director, MY Bharat Ladakh, Ms. Tajamul Ara, along with officials of MY Bharat and other dignitaries, were also present during the programme.
The interaction programme commenced with a welcome address by Shri Tashi Namgyal, DIG, ITBP, who extended a warm welcome to the Hon’ble Minister and expressed gratitude for her visit.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble Minister engaged with ITBP officers and jawans and appreciated their unwavering dedication, courage and commitment in safeguarding the nation’s borders under extreme weather and challenging terrain. She acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel and commended their vital role in ensuring peace, security and resilience in frontier regions. Emphasizing the values of discipline, service and patriotism, she noted that the determination and spirit of the forces serve as an inspiration for the youth of the country.
She also highlighted the objectives of the Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme (VVVP), an initiative aimed at strengthening border villages through youth engagement, community participation and sustainable development, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Being organized across several border villages of Ladakh, the programme includes yoga sessions, cleanliness drives, community interactions, cultural exchanges, awareness programmes and youth engagement activities. The Minister’s visit is expected to further boost youth participation in nation-building and reinforce the Government of India’s commitment to the holistic development of border villages.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
