Various delegations call on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra in Kargil.
Kargil, January 02, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) was called on today by several delegations from different areas of Kargil at Raj Niwas, Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Shree Raam R. were present during the meetings.
A delegation led by Chairman, Coordination Committee, Shakar Chiktan, Kacho Shameem Ahmad called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra and urged him to recommend the creation of new district to Chiktan-Shargole to the Government of India.
In reply, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that he is fully aware of the issue and the matter will be looked into.
Another delegation from LAHDC, Kargil comprising Executive Councilors: Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi, Zakir Hussain, and Councilors called on the HLG and urged him to include Purgi/Balti as one of the official languages of UT Ladakh along with the other official languages. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the matter will be looked into.
A delegation from Karkitchoo village also called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and requested for GI Tagging for Karkitchoo apple. They also demanded for lift irrigation for the apricot and apple cultivation at Khumbuthang Karkitchoo.
Regarding the GI Tagging for Karkitchoo apple, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed DC Kargil and Horticulture Department Kargil to prioritize the issue and do the needful.
Regarding the demand of lift irrigation, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed I&FC Department Kargil to prepare a DPR for it besides directed DC Kargil to monitor the matter personally.
Representatives from Kargil Literary Society also called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and requested to include Purgi/Balti as one of the official languages of UT Ladakh. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the matter will be looked into.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor interacted with various other delegations and individuals from across the district including officials of various departments and other individuals. He gave a patient hearing to all their issues and said that their genuine demands will be looked into as per norms within specific time-lines.
