World Environment Day celebrated with great enthusiasm in Nyoma under the theme “Clean Changthang, Green Changthang.” As part of the observance, a cleanliness drive was organized with active participation from students and staff of Government Higher Secondary School Nyoma, KGBV Nyoma, and Government Middle School Nyoma.
The cleanliness campaign commenced from the campus of Government Higher Secondary School Nyoma and extended across various parts of Nyoma village. Participants joined hands to clean public spaces and spread awareness about environmental conservation, cleanliness, and community responsibility.
The programme was supported by the Rural Development Department Nyoma, Ladakh Police Nyoma, and the Information Department Nyoma, whose cooperation contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the drive.
The cleanliness drive was led by Phunchok Stobdan (ZRP, Nyoma), Jigmet Dorjay (Principal, Government Higher Secondary School Nyoma), Sherab Dorjay (Headmaster, Government Middle School Nyoma), and Rinchen Lamo (Headmaster, KGBV Nyoma), who actively participated and encouraged students and staff to work collectively towards a cleaner and greener environment.
The programme highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship and reinforced the collective commitment of the community towards maintaining cleanliness and protecting the natural surroundings of Changthang.
