World Hypertension Day Celebrated at GDC Drass.
Kargil, May 17, 2025 – On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, Govt. Degree College Drass, in collaboration with the Sub-Divisional Hospital Drass, organized an awareness program focusing on the 2025 theme: “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.”
The event featured a series of informative talks aimed at spreading awareness about hypertension and related health concerns. Dr. Anjum delivered a detailed lecture on hypertension, highlighting its causes, preventive measures, and the importance of early detection and lifestyle management. In addition, Dr. Mehdi gave an insightful talk on diabetes, its root causes, and strategies for prevention.
Addressing mental health and addiction issues, Ms. Afsahana, a counselor, presented an engaging session on substance abuse, discussing its harmful effects and the need for timely intervention and awareness.
The program began with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Praveen Fatima, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The entire event was well-coordinated by Mr. Mohd Yaseen, Physical Director (Sports). Dr. Shoib Maqbool, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, GDC Drass presented the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the guest speakers for their valuable and informative contributions.
The Principal of GDC Drass, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the need for such awareness programs to be conducted regularly to improve the overall health standards of the community.
The event concluded with an interactive session on the theme, encouraging students and attendees to actively participate and raise questions related to hypertension and general well-being.
