    Zanskar, July 20, 2025 – On the occasion of the Yarches Chenmo Summer Symposium, Executive Councillor Er. Phunchok Tashi visited Marpalimg Lamdon Model School to attend its Silver Jubilee, marking twenty-five years of dedicated service to the people of Zanskar. This milestone also coincided with the official inauguration of the school’s CBSE recognition and affiliation, granted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 26th June 2025.
    The celebration was graced by His Eminence Seri Rinpoche as the Guest of Honour, who was warmly welcomed by the school administration and all members of the local community. The event featured a series of cultural performances by students, showcasing India’s rich and diverse heritage, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic and inclusive education.
    During the event, Mr. Rigzin Samphel, the honourable founder of the school, shared a heartfelt account of the school’s establishment in 1996, highlighting the struggles and challenges faced in providing modern education to the remote region of Zanskar.
    Executive Councillor Er. Phunchok Tashi addressed the students with a thoughtful and inspiring message, emphasizing the importance of preserving one’s own culture, language, and traditions while adapting to the modern era.
    Later in the evening, the Councillor, accompanied by the AE and AXM of the RnD Department, laid the foundation stone for a Multi-Purpose Community Hall for Stongdey village under the District Capex Budget, with a sanctioned amount of ₹336.38 lakhs. The initiative was warmly acknowledged by the Nambardar of Stongdey village and youth representatives, who expressed gratitude to the Executive Councillor, officials, and the contractor with traditional khatas, affirming their hopes for this to become a landmark project for the region.
    The memorable day concluded with the blessings and kind words of His Eminence Seri Rinpoche, leaving the attendees inspired and united in the spirit of cultural preservation and educational progress.
