    Zanskar Police Hold Awareness Program on Offences under Motor Vehicle Act

    Zanskar, May 06, 2025 – Under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Police Station Zanskar organized an awareness program on offences under the Motor Vehicle Act, particularly those committed by juveniles, holding guardians or vehicle owners liable for punishment under Section 199A and 4/180 of the MV Act. The event was held at the Conference Hall of the Tourist Dak Bungalow in Padum.
    The Chief Guest, Executive Councillor for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, LAHDC, Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi, presided over the program. Other dignitaries in attendance included Tehsildar Zanskar, Sh. Mohd. Hassan; SHO Zanskar; Tourism Officer Zanskar; Presidents of the Nambardar Association, Taxi Union, Tempo Union, and Tipper Union; as well as Lambardars, drivers, and members of the Transport Cooperative Society, Zanskar.
    During the event, SHO Zanskar, Sh. Stanzin Gyaltsan, provided essential instructions on the Motor Vehicle Act and traffic rules. Participants lauded the efforts of Police Station Zanskar for conducting such an informative initiative.
    In his address, Chief Guest Er. Punchok Tashi urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations. He emphasized that a responsible driver serves as an ambassador of the region, being the first point of contact for tourists and visitors. “A driver’s conduct and behavior leave a lasting impression, shaping the perception of the entire area,” he remarked.
